Stephen Christian-Michaels, President and Chief Executive Officer of Family Services of Western Pennsylvania, has been appointed by Ted Dallas, Acting Secretary of the Commonwealth’s Department of Human Services, to the Person Centered Health Home Council, a group assigned the responsibility of making recommendations for the implementation of Health Homes in Pennsylvania.

“I am honored that Secretary Dallas has asked me to be involved in this effort,” said Christian-Michaels. “Health Homes are designed to bring the various specialists, hospitals and other health providers together through the primary care physician practice to improve the patient experience, improve the coordination of care for the patient and lower the cost of care through greater efficiency. Often different specialist services are delivered at the site of the primary care physician, in particular behavioral health services.” He added, “I hope to bring forth some of theexperiences we have had as an integrated care agency to this critical effort.”

Mr. Christian-Michaels’ career focus has been on providing behavioral health and recovery-related care and services for individuals of all ages. He has worked on developing systems and programs that break the mold of recovery and behavioral health care, and is passionate about creating the public policy and funding models to create independence for the individuals served.
