Something Beautiful When I Run

"Some people create with words or with music or with a brush and paints", said Steve Prefontaine, former US middle and long distance running great. "I like to make something beautiful when I run." Wayne Kurtz knows that feeling, too.

On May 5, 2013, Wayne ran in the Pittsburgh Marathon. He prepared by spending the preceding forty-eight hours running on a treadmill at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center to raise funds for our  Running for Laptops program.

Extreme running isn't new for Wayne. He has participated in triathlons, cycling events, and snowshoe racing at various distances. He has run extensively all over the world in ultra-distance events: Double, Quintuple, DECA Ironman Triathlons, and 100-mile and multi-day running events. The events, traveling memories and lifelong friendships that he has made through the endurance-racing community have been a valuable part of his life.

We wish Wayne the best on his next running adventure and we thank him for the beautiful run and the memories he helped create on May 3rd through 5th on behalf of the youth helped by Running for Laptops.
